Reiki has been called something different by many cultures, but over thousands of years, its existence has been verified time and again.

Rei = "God's Wisdom" or "Highest Power"

Ki = "Life Force Energy"

Reiki = a spiritually guided life force energy

The Japanese call it Ki. In China it is known as Chi. In many other Asian cultures like Thailand it is Prana. And still those in the West who have studied many forms of religion and spirituality have likened it to the Holy Spirit within us all.

Each of us carries this energy within us. It has been found in Western science that we have the same chemical makeups as a star, albeit more complex, so how are we not just as magical? This energy exists from the moment of our conception as our spirit enters the new lifeform. Now, this does not mean that you must be pro-life, or that you must believe in reincarnation to access these energies. Each soul has its' own contract, its' own purpose for being here on the journey that it chose. And if you are here now, re-accessing Reiki energy may be a part of yours.

Successful disciplines such as Reiki, Tai Chi, Feng Shui, Meditation, Yoga, and Acupuncture have been developed to control and greatly enhance the flow of this energy in and around the body. The energy itself is pure and has omniscient wisdom that is not limited to time, space or dimension.

Many of us access this energy without knowing it. When a child falls and hurts their knee, instinctively they place their hand on the sore spot and the pain is slowly relieved as they unconsciously work with this energy to heal themselves. Likewise, a parent will kiss their child’s hurt or injured limb better and place their hand on top. Unknowingly both the parent and the child are working with this healing energy. The parent is sending and channeling the energy while the child is receiving and allowing the energy to heal them.

An important difference that should be noted when working with Reiki energy. WE (those who practice Reiki) are not healing them. We are merely a channel, or conduit, to the energies that be from the Universe to allow them to focus in a more focused direction.
